National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) West
The National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) is the only charitable organization in Canada that provides assistance to advertising, media and related industry professionals, who may need help due to illness, injury, unemployment or financial difficulties. NABS services include a national toll-free HELPLINE (1-888-355-5548), financial assistance, skills assessment and retraining, as well as emotional, personal and career counseling services. Founded in 1983, and supported 100% by the industry, NABS has contributed more than $7 Million to thousands of industry colleagues and their families. NABS has chapters in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

Foundations
Canadian Communications Foundation
Included on the site are histories of every radio and television station and network in Canada, as well as a wealth of other historic detail about the evolution of Canada’s broadcasting system. The Foundation is a non profit registered charitable Foundation with no paid staff or offices, and all monies received are allocated to website research, writing and maintenance.
Originally funded by the CAB, the Foundation has in the past received donations from stations and individual present and past members of the industry. It has also received grants from Benefits Packages attending such major broadcast ownership changes as BCE’s acquisition of CTV, CHUM’s purchase of Craig Media and Astral’s acquisition of Standard Broadcasting.
Now, however, those funds are running low, and the Foundation needs help. Please consider making a personal or corporate donation to the Foundation. Also, please check your station history on the site, and let us know of any necessary changes, corrections or additions. We can be reached at:
